About Us

Andrew AughtonAndrew Aughton is Blueyard’s lead consultant. He has worked in the UK arts and entertainment industry since leaving university in 1984.  His 33-year career has taken in venue management, marketing, education and fundraising roles at seven different venues, with outstanding success, culminating in 15 years as Chief Executive of Buxton Opera House from 1998 to 2013.  He has also worked in performing, composing, teaching, musical direction, and theatre production.

Since 2013, he has concentrated on freelance projects: programming for UK theatre and music venues, including Cheltenham Town Hall & Cheltenham International Orchestral Series, Waterside Arts Centre (Sale), Sutton Theatres, New Theatre Royal Lincoln and Preston Guild Hall, and researching and writing funding proposals for numerous clients, including Somm Recordings, Aldeburgh Music and Aldeburgh Festival, Cheltenham International Orchestral Series, English Symphony Orchestra, Somm Recordings and Saffron Walden Concert Hall, among others.

Andrew leads Blueyard’s work in the fields of:

  • Theatre Programming
  • Fundraising from trusts, foundations and statutory or non-statutory funding bodies
  • Coaching in trust and foundation bid-writing, for arts and non-arts charities
  • Coaching in deal-making and understanding deals, for marketing and programming staff

Graham Dentith

Graham has over 35 years’ experience in senior management and operational roles in UK theatres, arts centres, cinemas and in tourist and heritage venues. His expertise in human resources, Health & Safety, retail, building management/development and virtually every aspect of operational management makes him the ideal consultant for your organisation’s operational review or feasibility study, change management strategy, project research/implementation (capital or operational), project or organisational evaluation/appraisal.

Yvonne Hurt

Yvonne (BEd, MA, Member of Stage Directors UK) is an experienced Theatre Director, Workshop Leader, Audition Coach and Lecturer. She has worked with professional actors, University Students, emerging artists and Industry professionals looking to develop their communication and presentation skills. She has worked with The National Trust, The British Council, and has developed, written and validated many successful Theatre Degree Programmes for Higher Education. She also has wide international directing experience with productions in Ireland, Romania, France and Italy. Her vast experience makes her the perfect consultant for directing, dramaturg and workshop projects, and for Research & Development in contemporary theatre, playwriting, the relationship between text and performance, and gender representation in theatre.

Mel Jones

Mel is director of her own marketing communications agency (Encore PR), with over 15 years’ experience of designing and delivering arts and entertainment campaigns, focused on return-on-investment. She specialises in providing integrated and targeted activity, incorporating responsive PR, marketing and design services to the entertainment, arts, hospitality and tourism sectors. Mel is the ideal consultant for your organisation’s hands-on delivery, from campaign conception to events management and from social media to brochure design.
